Aurora Aksnes first musical memory was when she discovered a keyboard in her loft and being intrigued by its sounds. Jan Oystein Aksnes was her father. He urged her not to do music just to have fun or for the sake of growth but rather, she must take it seriously. In the end, she began writing her own music. She acknowledges Bob Dylan and Leonard Cohen and Bjork as being her influences. Her mother had told her that her songs would not just help her get noticed, but also make others see their importance in the world and realize what can be done with the songs She decided to start singing in public. She started playing piano at the age of six, and began making music when she was 9 years old. Her family didn't know until the age of 14. Aurora had no idea of being famous. The only thing she loves is writing songs. For her, the songs she creates are the way that she feels anything.
